Our strengths

Why is OPPAL different from other NGOs on the wolf issue?

Most NGOs working on large carnivores, particularly wolves, have a militant approach and often find themselves in conflict with the players on the ground (breeders, shepherds, etc.).

OPPAL differentiates itself by its unifying philosophy.

Indeed, we are convinced that the cohabitation with these wild species requires first of all a cohabitation between the various players. We seek to build a dynamic in which agricultural professionals, biologists, nature defenders and citizens participate in building a model for the protection of herds and large carnivores in an intelligent, collective and sustainable manner.

Through its actions, OPPAL seeks to promote respect and listening while maintaining its goals.

The protagonists of our projects

Volunteers or civil servants

The return of large carnivores to our country is an issue and a choice of society. Through its projects, OPPAL allows Swiss and foreign citizens to get involved and reduce the conflicts related to the return of these animals.

The operators and professionals
from the field

OPPAL works in close collaboration with many shepherds and breeders on a daily basis. A space of dialogue and confidence is built with each one.

Nature conservation organizations and biologists

OPPAL is a partner of several nature conservation organizations such as WWF or Pronatura. We help to build bridges and spaces for dialogue between these structures and the protagonists in the field.
